Born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, to the late Shelley and Lois Kaplan, Robert Kaplan died of end stage renal disease caused by Amyloidosis at his home. He was the incredible husband of Jerrilyn, and loving father to their twin daughters, Nikki Kaplan (Blake Echols) and Dara Sue (Alan), grandfather to Hannah Echols, and Lylah and Rayah Sue. He is also survived by his brother, Vic Kaplan.
After finishing high school in Millburn, New Jersey, he attended and graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster , PA. He then attended the California College of Podiatry in San Francisco (at which time he met Jerri). He did 2 years of residency in N.J. and Oakland, after which he began his practice of Podiatry on Pill Hill in Oakland. He was a lifetime member of the California Podiatry Association and served as president of his local chapter.
Rob was an avid golfer, bread maker, vacation planner, guitar player, reader, A’s and Warriors fan. He volunteered to cook for the Midway Women’s Shelter in Alameda. He was an active member of Temple Israel of Alameda and served as President, Treasurer, and Cantorial Soloist.
