Nauvelene Blaisdell

Nauvelene Blaisdell, wife of Cdr. Robert Blaisdell (deceased), and mother of Robert, Mikael and Mark Blaisdell passed away at Aegis Living of Moraga on November 5th, 2018, at the age of 93.  Mrs. Blaisdell was a devout Christian and a longtime active member of St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in Berkeley. The Blaisdell family has lived in Alameda, CA since her husband’s Navy retirement in 1971. Her accomplishments include raising three sons as a Navy wife and mother, years of volunteer service at Navy Relief, and earning her B.A. degree in French Literature from Hayward State University at age 60. 

She was raised in Oklahoma City with her younger brother Reverend Earl Taylor (deceased 2016). She was an 18-year-old nursing student when she met Robert, the love of her life, at a U.S.O. dance. They married in 1946 and raised their children in many different places in the U.S., Europe and the Far East during Robert’s 27-year career as a Navy pilot. She and her husband continued to enjoy world travel after his retirement.  Mrs. Blaisdell is survived by her sons Robert (Simone Brumis) of Albany, Mikael of Alameda, and Mark (Shelly Maramonte) of Concord, and her grandchildren Erik, Demetri, Amaya and Lian.  Erik’s wife Bobbi-Jean is expecting Nauvelene’s greatgrandchild on November 15th. Memorial Services will be held at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in Berkeley at 11:00 am on Tuesday November 13th, 2018.
